The story of Towns Bluff

A county park that feels like a state park — just quieter, wilder, and more yours.

About the Park

Quiet by design.
Wild by nature.

Towns Bluff isn’t a state park — it’s a county-operated retreat that offers everything you’d want and none of the crowds. Camping, river access, trails, and history all share the same stretch of land where Georgia’s greatest rivers converge.

  • Located at the confluence of three rivers
  • Less crowded than state parks — peacefully so
  • Primitive, RV, and yurt camping available
  • A natural stop en route to Jekyll Island or Florida

“You enjoy a peaceful day at the park, watching the river, hearing the wildlife, hiking the trails, learning the region at the museum — and end it around a campfire. Doesn’t get much better than that.”

The Rivers

Where Georgia’s waterways unite

The Ocmulgee, Oconee, and Altamaha Rivers meet right here — a rare, ecologically significant place. The Altamaha once carried massive timber rafts downstream, and the Heritage Museum tells that story alongside the living ecology of the river system.
